Barcelona have appeared as favourites to land Liverpool-linked full-back Junior Firpo from the Spanish outfit Real Betis.
The Spaniard impressed in the recent European U21 Championship, while he has also continued his development in the Spanish top-flight in Seville.
Liverpool have been connected with holding an interest in the full-back, while Barcelona have also been mooted as a possible destination for Firpo as they plan to provide Jordi Alba with the competition.
Now, according to a Catalan radio station RAC1, Blaugrana have emerged as the favourites to sign Junior Firpo.
Real Betis are reportedly close to snapping up the defender Alex Moreno, something which will allow Junior to be sold.
Full-back Alex, who is poised to arrive from the fellow Spanish club Rayo Vallecano, could open the door for Junior.
The defender has an exit clause set at €40 million, but it is claimed that Real Betis will be ready to accept a lower figure.
Whether the Reds might make a decisive move to rival Blaugrana for Firpo remains to be seen, but the Catalans at present appears the most likely destination for the impressive defender.
Meantime, Liverpool manager Jurgen Klopp is reportedly interested in keeping Dejan Lovren at the club this summer because of the Croatia international’s leadership qualities.
AC Milan have been strongly connected with a swoop for the 30-year-old, who played an important role in Croatia reaching the final of the 2018 FIFA World Cup.
However, according to Calciomercato, Jurgen is determined to keep the centre-back at the club due to his leadership qualities.
