AS Roma are reportedly set to turn their attentions to Manchester United defender Marcos Rojo are reportedly missing out on a reported deal for Liverpool ace Dejan Lovren.
According to Goal, Dejan’s proposed move to AS Roma isn’t going to happen this summer transfer market, with negotiations between the two sides regarding a deal for the Croatian star being put to a stop recently.
The report adds that AS Roma are now going go turn their all attention to other targets, with these being Manchester United star Rojo, and Besiktas centre-back Domagoj Vida.
Marcos has been out-of-favour at Old Trafford for a while, and a move away from the side seem needed if it’s playing time the Argentine is after.
The 29-year-old star was able to make just eight matches for the Red Devils in all competitions the previous term, with Ole opting to play the likes of Smalling, Lindelof and Bailly at the back ahead of the Argentine.
Considering that United have managed to bring in England international Harry Maguire from Leicester City a couple of weeks ago, Rojo’s chance of landing a senior team place at the club now look slimmer than ever.
Thus, sealing a transfer away from Solskjaer’s side may be his best bet if Marcos’ looking to reignite his somewhat stagnant career.
It will be interesting to see if AS Roma completely ditch their pursuit of Dejan altogether and make their move for Marcos in the coming weeks, as the Italian giants apparently look to strengthen their defensive variants ahead of September’s transfer deadline.
