Real Madrid head-coach Zinedine Zidane has reportedly phoned Liverpool forward Sadio Mane earlier this summer in order to discuss a potential move to the Santiago Bernabeu ahead of the 2019-20 season.
Mane has managed to found back of the net 26 times in 50 games for the Merseyside Reds during the 2018-19 campaign, while he scored twice in his team’s UEFA Super Cup final against Chelsea that has ended with a triumph of the Reds after a penalty shootout.
According to Soccer Link, Zidane had a phone conversation with the Reds forward earlier this summer in order to discuss a possible move to the Los Blancos.
However, the report suggested that the Merseyside Reds would have only accepted an ‘exorbitant bid’ for the Senegalese international defender due to his importance to the club.
Spanish giant have signed the likes of Eden Hazard and Luka Jovic this summer’s transfer window, while the Los Blancos continue to be linked with a swoop for Brazilian superstar Neymar.
The capital giants started their 2019-20 La Liga season by winning 3-1 win on Saturday afternoon after they travelled to the Balaidos to take on Celta Vigo.
Meanwhile, Former Manchester United skipper Gary Neville has claimed that Liverpool forward Mohamed Salah will depart from Anfield “in the next 12 months”.
Egypt international forward has been in outstanding form for the Merseyside Reds since a 2017 move from Serie A giants, founding back of the net 72 times in 107 games in all competitions.
The 27-year-old forward still has four years left to run on his current contract. However, Neville has revealed that the Egypt international will soon depart from Anfield.
“Salah’s going to leave in the next 12 months, I can see it already,” Neville told Sky Bet.
