Liverpool have moved to hijack Everton’s move for Besiktas centre-back Domagoj Vida, reports claim.
A centre-back who is capable to perform on both left and the right flanks ar the defensive end has been an imposing presence in Croatia’s starting lineup at World Cup, helping his national team to reach the quarter-finals.
The Merseyside Blues were rumoured with a move for the 29-year-old back in January but he moved to Turkey instead.
Just six months later the Toffees have supposedly plotted at £13m bid for the Croatian versatile defender.
However, a twist in the tale, the Merseyside Reds have entered the fray and intend to throw a spanner in the works.
Turkish journalist Turgay Demir claims that the Reds have now joined the race for Vida and ready to beat their bitter rivals Everton in securing the services of versatile defender.
He is quoted as saying: “Everton and Liverpool have made an offer for Vida, €15m has been proposed but Besiktas will not consider a bid below €20m.”
Kop boss splashed out £75m on to sign Dutch centre-back Virgil Van Dijk during the January transfer window.
