Manchester United head-coach Jose Mourinho has confirmed that England international full-back Luke Shaw will return to the team for Wednesday’s Champions League games with Swiss club Young Boys.
The English defender impressed in the Red Devils first four games of the 2018-19 Premier League season, however, was forced to miss Saturday’s 2-1 victory at Watford following the head injury that he got during the friendly game against Swiss.
There was a concern that Shaw could face another extended spell on the sidelines, however, Mourinho has revealed that he will be in the XI for the club’s European opener.
“Luke Shaw plays Wednesday,” Mourinho told reporters. “We can’t do it with one left-back and Ashley Young is not just a left-back, he is also a right-back.
“They are both doing well, they are both different players and I think they both understand that one is a young player and the other is the experienced one and it is good for us to have these two options.”
The Red Devils have been drawn into Group H of this campaign Champions League alongside Valencia, Juventus and Young Boys.
