Arsenal star Mesut Ozil isn’t thought to be convinced that a switch to Major League Soccer outfit DC United would be best for his professional career.
The German playmaker was constantly linked with a transfer away from the Emirates Stadium last campaign, and the recent arrivals of Nicolas Pepe and Dani Ceballos have only fuelled talk of a possible exit for Ozil.
A January transfer to DC United has recently appeared as an option, with Ozil’s agents meeting with club officials to attempt and negotiate a move. However, according to the Daily Star, the star himself isn’t too interested in the deal.
Not only would a move to the MLS bring about a big pay cut for Ozil, but he also believes that he still has a lot to offer in Europe.
DC United are currently on the observation post for a marquee replacement for Wayne Rooney, who is set to sign for Derby County in January, but it emerges as though they may be frustrated in their pursuit of Mesut.
It was rumoured that the 30-year-old star might be eager to depart Europe after both he and the Bosnian Sead Kolasinac were targeted by armed attackers the previous month.
The current situation has taken a scary turn for the worst, with the duo unable to play football and under permanent supervision, amid fears, they’re being targeted by a gang.
However, Mesut is believed to be interested in getting the situation resolved so he can return to playing for the Gunners, and he has no plans to walk away from Arsenal just yet.
