Premier League giants Manchester United head-coach Ole Gunnar Solskjaer is reportedly happy with his options at the left-back position, leaving the Norwegian to focus on other areas to strengthen during the next transfer window.
With the Red Devils having work to do to become Premier League title challengers, it has previously been reported that a replacement for Luke Shaw would be signed at the earliest opportunity.
However, according to The Sun, the Norwegian manager is prepared to promote academy graduate Brandon Williams to the first choice in that position and won’t sign any other player this summer.
During his first senior season at Old Trafford, the 19-year-old has made 19 starts and seven appearences in all competitions.
Williams has allegedly been told that the talented left-back will not be signed, an indication that Luke Shaw will also stay at the Premier League heavyweights.
While predominantly regarded as a full-back, Luke Shaw has also been used on the left-hand side of a back three this campaign.
Meanwhile, Chelsea are reportedly exploring the possibility of securing the services of Manchester United starlet Angel Gomes for free in the summer.
The 19-year-old attacking midfielder has played six first-team games for the 20-times English champions this campaign, however, has not featured since early January amid the uncertainty around his future.
Indeed, the Englishman will see his current deal at Man Utd expire in the summer and unlike Tahith Chong, the talented midfielder is yet to commit his future to the Red Devils.
According to Metro, The Red Devils have offered him a deal of £25,000 a week, however, Gomes’s agents feel that he deserves a better pay rise on his current salary.
