Manchester United have submitted a bid to secure services of Ajax stopper Andre Onana, according to reports. the Red Devils have been in transfer talks with Spanish goalkeeper David De Gea over a new deal, however, as of yet, no new contract has been agreed.
The Spanish stopper has just one year left on his current deal and would be free to talk with teams from Europe in January.
The former Atletico Madrid stopper, who has just completed his eighth campaign with the Red Devils, is demanding a significant pay rise on his current contract that would see him earn parity with Chile international forward Alexis Sanchez, who earns around £400,000 a week salary which is topped up by various bonuses. however, the Red Devils executive vice-chairman Ed Woodward is not willing to meet David De Gea’s demands.
According to the Daily Record, Spanish goalkeeper David De Gea is ‘unimpressed’ with Woodward’s refusal to meet his demands, while the Red Devils are looking a replacement for his signature,
The Red Devils have submitted a bid for Ajax stopper Onana, however, who value Cameroon international stopper at €40 million (£35m), have turned down the offer.
Man Utd are also unwilling to meet the Dutch giants asking price for Onana and are considering Barcelona stopper Jasper Cillessen as an alternative option in the summer.
Cillessen, who joined the Catalan club from Ajax, is believed to be valued in excess of €25m (£22m) by the Spanish champions, however, would be a cheaper alternative to Onana for the Red Devils.
