Man Utd have reportedly taken the first steps towards securing services of Lyon’s in-demand playmaker Tanguy Ndombele, according to the sources from Frane.
The 22-year-old France international midfielder is believed to be at the centre of a transfer bidding war between the Red Devils and their direct Premier League rivals Manchester City.
According to Le 10 Sport, Man Utd have already made contact with the Frenchman’s agents as they are desperate to fend off the competition from the Citizens.
Manchester City are believed to have fallen short with a previous offer for Ligue 1 giants midfielder Ndombele the last term. However, they will reignite their interest for the 22-year-old star as they see Fernandinho as an ideal replacement for his signature in the holding midfield position.
French midfielder can also play in a slightly more advanced role, and he has thrived for Ligue 1 giants Lyon since initially making the switch on loan last campaign as little as £7m to secure his move permanent.
Lyon are now rumoured to be after more than £70m for the ex-Amiens midfielder, however, with Serie A champions Juventus also being touted as a possible next destination for the Frenchman.
Meanwhile, Former Manchester United forward Memphis Depay who has been in fine form has rumoured with a return to Premier League following strong interest from Tottenham Hotspur as they are in the market for offensive reinforcements after recent struggles in the English top-tier.
