Chelsea centre-back Gary Cahill has reportedly emerged as a January transfer target for Manchester United.
Former England international star started for the Blues in the EFL Cup game in the midweek. However, the long-serving defender has only played 21 minutes of Premier League games this campaign.
The English defender has acknowledged that he may have to depart from Stamford Bridge at the start of 2019, and according to The Sun, the Red Devils are planning to approach for his signature.
Jose Mourinho missed out on a number of defensive targets before the start of the new season. However, the Portuguese are familiar with Cahill having worked with him at Stamford Bridge during his spell at Chelsea.
The 32-year-old has less than a year left on his current deal and could leave the club in January.
However, Chelsea are unlikely to allow their star player to sign for direct Premier League rivals..
Meanwhile, Manhcester United are considering the sale of Eric Bailly who has failed to secure spot in Jose Mourinho’s starting XI.
