The 28-year-old forward has since ‘unliked’ the post, however, his social media activity will do little to quell rumours of a potential move to 20-times English champions this summer’s transfer window.

Man Utd stepped up inserted in signing of 22-year-old midfielder valued at £70m

Man Utd have reportedly taken the first steps towards securing services of Lyon’s in-demand playmaker Tanguy Ndombele, according to the sources from Frane.

The 22-year-old France international midfielder is believed to be at the centre of a transfer bidding war between the Red Devils and their direct Premier League rivals Manchester City.

According to Le 10 Sport, Man Utd have already made contact with the Frenchman’s agents as they are desperate to fend off the competition from the Citizens.

Manchester City are believed to have fallen short with a previous offer for Ligue 1 giants midfielder Ndombele the last term. However, they will reignite their interest for the 22-year-old star as they see Fernandinho as an ideal replacement for his signature in the holding midfield position.

French midfielder can also play in a slightly more advanced role, and he has thrived for Ligue 1 giants Lyon since initially making the switch on loan last campaign as little as £7m to secure his move permanent.

Lyon are now rumoured to be after more than £70m for the ex-Amiens midfielder, however, with Serie A champions Juventus also being touted as a possible next destination for the Frenchman.

Meanwhile, Former Manchester United forward Memphis Depay who has been in fine form has rumoured with a return to Premier League following strong interest from Tottenham Hotspur as they are in the market for offensive reinforcements after recent struggles in the English top-tier.

Ole Gunnar Solskjaer backed Man Utd 23-year-old star to emulate Cristiano Ronaldo

Man Utd winger Anthony Martial has the talent to emulate former Reds forward Cristiano Ronaldo’s level if he puts his mind to it, this according to interim manager Ole Gunnar Solskjaer.

The 23-year-old Frenchman has impressed in fits and starts since making a switch to Old Trafford from AS Monaco back in 2015, becoming the most expensive teenager.

France international star had looked set to depart from a team this summer after falling out of favour than a Red Devils head-coach Jose Mourinho, only to fight his way back into the Portuguese’s plans and earlier last month he has agreed to extend his stay at the club and continue to impress for Solskjaer.

The Frenchman has marked his first start since that deal with an assist and a superb goal against Fulah last weekend, where his fine solo finish led former Red Devils skipper Gary Neville to compare him to one of the best players in the world Cristiano Ronaldo.

“Yes, it was towards the end of the game and we played a very poor game and Cristiano scored it,” Solskjaer said of his former team-mate’s goal.

“He does have similarities, of course.

“If he wants to be at Cristiano’s level, Anthony knows what he has to do. It’s up to him. He has the talent.”

Getting anywhere near to his heights would be remarkable for 23-year-old forward who has been rumoured with Old Trafford exit during Jose Mourinho’s time at the club.

Had the ex-United head-coach got his way, there is a chance that Frenchman may have been lining up for Ligue 1 giants PSG rather than the Red Devils in Tuesday’s Champions League 1/16 tie.
