27-year-old former Barcelona forward could have ended up Man Utd
Neymar was very keen on a move from Paris Saint-Germain to Manchester United before the club missed out on qualification for the UEFA Champions League.
The Brazilian winger is angling for a move this summer with the South American’s first choice being a return to Barcelona, but Neymar has also drawn up a list of other clubs, according to Mundo Deportivo.
The 27-year-old star is reportedly open to a switch to Juventus, Real Madrid and Bayern Munich, while the Red Devils had been on his list, but are no longer an option.
With Ole Gunnar Solskjaer’s side competing in the Europa League this campaign, Neymar no longer considers the club as a viable destination for him as he only wants to compete at the high level.
While it’s Neymar’s first choice, a return to Blaugrana is very complicated as they won’t meet the enormous £198 million that PSG are asking for the forward.
The only way a deal will be done is if the two sides can identify a number of stars that could be swapped for Neymar, but obviously the Parisians must want them and the Catalans must be content to let them go, which will be tough to achieve.
The La Liga giants have already placed a bid of £40 million plus Ivan Rakitic and Philippe Coutinho for him, reports the Express, but PSG rejected that offer.
Paris Saint-Germain are keen on bringing in Philippe, but did not believe that Rakitic and £40 million on top of the former Liverpool player equated to the value of Neymar.
Man Utd will offer key midfielder new deal in attempt to keep him at Old Trafford
Manchester United are reportedly interested in open contract talks with France international Paul Pogba, who is being pursued by Zinedine Zidane’s Real Madrid this summer.
According to a report by a local, free daily newspaper the London Evening Standard, the Red Devils are looking to enter negotiations with Paul Pogba over a bumper fresh deal.
The French midfielder has been strongly linked with Los Blancos in this summer’s transfer market, especially in the wake of his the latest comments about wanting a fresh challenge.
The Manchester United manager Ole Gunnar Solskjaer has consistently maintained that Paul has been a top professional and repeated this week that the star can get his aforementioned challenge at Manchester United as well, while also adding that the all-around midfielder is in contention to become the next club captain.
The Red Devils are prepared to take a decisive step in warding off the interest from Real Madrid, as they plan to begin contract discussions with the French star.
While details of the terms that could be on offer haven’t been revealed in the report, the initiation of negotiations are certainly a step in the right direction.
It now remains to be seen if the club can take more positive steps in their attempt to keep Paul Pogba at Old Trafford.
It will be interesting to see if the former Juventus player decides to commit his long-term future to his present club or if he remains determined to make his way to the Santiago Bernabeu outfit this summer.
Barcelona will make move for €35m Man Utd signing if this happens
Barcelona are likely to attempt to sign Manchester United’s Swedish centre-back Victor Lindelof if Ole Gunnar Solskjaer’s side can complete a transfer swoop for England international Harry Maguire, according to the latest reports from the Spanish press.
The Leicester City centre-back has been strongly connected with a potential £80m move to the Old Trafford outfit this summer by the Daily Star and other sources, though the saga continues to drag on and on.
Harry would be a superb signing for Manchester United if they can pull it off, and would also give the Norwegian manager a long list of centre-back options, many of whom he probably will not particularly want.
The likes of Phil Jones and Chris Smalling have not really been good enough for the Red Devils in recent times, and a British daily newspaper the Daily Mail claimed the Maguire deal would see Ole look to sell one of his defenders.
However, it may be that Manchester United end up losing one of their better central defenders in the form of Victor, who has been linked with Ernesto Valverde’s Blaugrana by Mundo Deportivo.
Now Don Balon state the Catalan outfit’s board could push to bring in the Sweden international defender if United do end up signing the Foxes’ star defender this summer transfer window.
The newspaper suggests, however, that this may also hinge on selling the likes of France international duo Clement Lenglet or Samuel Umtiti, though Lindelof was previously linked by the Spanish publication without those conditions.
