Manchester United have started talks to sign Fluminense forward Pedro, according to the latest reports in Brazil.
The 21-year-old talent was close to signing for La Liga outfit Real Madrid last summer but his move was collapsed after he suffered a cruciate ligament injury which kept Pedro sidelined for seven months.
According to a Brazilian media outlet Globoesporte, the Red Devils were also interested in landing the forward, although they didn’t make a formal bid at the time.
But now an official from United has approached Fluzao to get an update on the player’s current situation after his recovery from his severe knee injury.
Los Blancos were willing to pay €25m (£22m) to land Pedro but now Fluminense are unwilling to sell their striker until after the presidential election on June 8.
He made his senior debut for the Brazilian club three years ago and has netted 17 goals in 50 matches for the Brazilian club.
The 21-year-old star given his first call-up to his country’s national team last August but was forced to pull out because of his knee injury.
Pedro, who is also being tracked by Atalanta, Inter and Bordeaux, is set to appear for his nation at the Toulon Tournament in June.
Meantime, Barcelona star Jasper Cillessen has reportedly agreed to personal terms with SL Benfica ahead of a potential switch to the Portuguese club in this summer’s transfer market, according to Goal.com,
Manchester United have been connected with the Dutch goalkeeper as a possible replacement for David de Gea, who could depart Old Trafford this summer but it appears that Jasper has agreed on a deal to join Aguias.
Manchester United are lining up an offer for Paris Saint-Germain star Adrien Rabiot as Ole Gunnar Solskjaer is interested in bolstering his midfield options for next campaign.
According to the Manchester Evening News, the Red Devils have retained an interest in Adrien and could try and land him once his deal with the Ligue 1 giants expires at the end of June.
The 24-year-old Frenchman had been heavily connected with a move to Barcelona, however, their landing of Frenkie De Jong from Ajax in January window means it’s unlikely they will now swoop for him.
Rabiot has been connected with a host of other sides, though, with Real Madrid, Tottenham Hotspur, Arsenal and Liverpool all having been touted with an interest in him in the latest months.
Manchester United’s failure to secure UCL football could hamper their attempts to sign Rabiot who will have no shortage of proposals when he eventually leaves the Paris club.
Solskjaer is planning to revamp his squad after a dismal end to the campaign and is on the observation post for central midfielders following the exits of Ander Herrera to PSG and Marouane Fellaini to Shandong Luneng.
Adrien, a left-footed deep-lying attacking midfielder, has been earmarked as a potential successor for Nemanja Matic who may be allowed to depart at the end of his deal next summer.
Paris Saint-Germain academy graduate is set for a summer departure from the club having fallen out with chairman Nasser Al-Khelaifi and manager Thomas Tuchel.
He has made 240 matches for the French heavyweights and won 18 trophies throughout his time with the club.
Manchester United have reportedly been offered the chance to land Kevin Strootman on loan from Ligue 1 club Marseille, reports say.
Old Trafford outfit were repeatedly connected with the Dutch player during the reigns of Louis van Gaal and David Moyes but a deal never materialised.
After departing Roma for Marseille the previous year, Strootman became a regular first-team player for the French side, making 34 matches this season.
But Sky Sports state Marseille are facing financial issues and need to ease the wage bill ahead of their final Ligue 1 match this campaign.
Marseille have offered Kevin to United on a loan deal, and have made the same proposal to EPL duo Everton and West Ham United.
The 29-year-old Strootman could be a cheap option for the Red Devils as Ole Gunnar Solskjaer faces a crucial summer of transfers.
Ole wants all his business finished by the time his players return for pre-campaign in July and is targeting five recruits.
It is unclear if the club would go for the former Roma player, considering Solskjaer is keen to focus his efforts on signing young British talent.
United are on the brink of signing Swansea talent Daniel James, while have stepped up their attempts to capture the signatures of Crystal Palace star Aaron Wan-Bissaka and Newcastle United midfielder Sean Longstaff.
The club are also looking at goalkeeping options ahead of the new season and could swoop for AC Milan star Gianluigi Donnarumma if David de Gea departs, according to an Italian media outlet Calciomercato.
