Manchester United are reportedly interested in securing services of Atletico Madrid defender Lucas Hernandez.
The French defender has played a key role in his countries winning the 2018 World Cup campaign, and only signed a new long-term deal with the Spanish giants.
However, according to the reports from France, the Red Devils have not been put off by Hernandez’s release clause of £72m, and could move for Frenchman at the end of the current campaign.
The Red Devils head-coach Jose Mourinho was unable to bring a new defender to the club during the summer transfer window, despite the reported interest from Leicester City’s Harry Maguire and Tottenham Hotspur’s centre-back Toby Alderweireld.
Hernandez operated at left-back for France at the 2018 World Cup tournament, however, can also play in central defence.
The Frenchman is fast closing on 100 first-team appearances for Atletico Bilbao.
Meanwhile, reports have claimed that Yerry Mina chose Everton over Man United partly because Jose Mourinho did not make the centre-back feel wanted.
The Colombia international defender was rumoured to be a primary summer transfer target for Man Utd, however, ended up departing from Barcelona to join the Toffees instead.
According to The Sun, Colombian defender had three reasons to pick Goodison Park over Old Trafford, the first being a lack of a contract with Man Utd boss Jose Mourinho.
The second is believed to have been the belief that the Red Devils were actively pursuing other central defensive targets ahead of Colombian star, making him feel unwanted by Jose Mourinho.
