La Liga club Athletic Bilbao have handed highly-rated forward Inaki Williams a new nine-year deal meaning that the Red Devils won’t be able to sign him in January as they planned.
Williams has spent his entire professional career with the Basque club, founding back of the net 49 times in 200 games in all competitions.
However, the Red Devils were rumoured with an approach for the 25-year-old forward during the summer transfer window as they considered signing attack-minded forward to Ole Gunnar Solskjaer’s team.
A transfer will not materialise in the near future, but, after La Liga outfits opted to give Williams a contract which will not expire until 2028.
The Spanish outfit have also included a £125m release clause in his current deal and the Red Devils will have to break the bank in order to lure him at Old Trafford.
Meanwhile, French midfielder Paul Pogba has refused to rule out a move away from Old Trafford after their 4-0 win over Chelsea but insists he is ‘having fun to play for the Red Devils.
Earlier this summer, Frenchman made it clear that he wanted to depart from the Old Trafford by claiming that he wants a ‘new challenge’.
However, despite interest from Juventus and Real Madrid, the Red Devils stood firm and refused to sell the World Cup-winning playmaker.
France international star has played in midfield as the Red Devils got their new Premier League season off to a flying start against their bitter rivals Chelsea on Sunday.
