Manchester United reportedly have seen their €90m (£83m) bid for Napoli defender Kalidou Koulibaly turned down in the latter stages of the English transfer window.
The 20-times English champions were heavily linked with a move for the Senegalese international defender before eventually agreeing to lure Harry Maguire ahead of the 2019/20 season.
Indeed, the Premier League giants broke the transfer record for an Englishman when they paid £80m to bring the Foxes defender at Old Trafford.
According to Corriere dello Sport, The Red Devils actually plotted a €90m (£83m) bid for the 28-year-old Serie A star before the transfer window shut. Napoli, though, signalled that they have now interest in parting with the ways of their star player.
The 28-year-old has played over 200 games for his Italian club since his transfer from Belgian outfits, Genk.
Barcelona and Real Madrid have also been credited with an interest in the Senegalese international defender, who could still depart from Naples for La Liga before the Spanish transfer window shuts down on September 2.
Meanwhile, Serie A giants Inter Milan have reportedly struck an agreement with Man United to bring unwanted full-back Matteo Darmian to the San Siro for free.
The Italian defender who has joined the Red Devils back in 2014, has only played 14 Premier League games over the last two seasons at Old Trafford.
Italian full-back was not in the squad for the Red Devils 4-0 victory over Chelsea on Sunday and has not played single minute during the pre-season tour for the 20-times English champions.
According to Rai Sport, Inter Milan have given Darmian a way out of Old Trafford after reaching an agreement with the Red Devils to take the defender on a free transfer after his contract expires in the summer of the 2020 year.
