Manchester United reportedly planning to make a £24m bid for Spain youth international winger Dani Olmo that was turned down by Dinamo Zagreb in the summer.
The 21-year-old forward has impressed during a triumphant Euro Under-21 Championship with his national team, claiming the ‘man of the match’ award in the final game against Germany.
Reports claimed that the Red Devils were among several teams interested in securing the services of the midfielder, with Arsenal and Bayern Munich also believed to have been keeping a tab on the player’s situation.
According to Sportske Novosti, the Red Devils put forward a bid worth £24m as the transfer deadline approached, however, were flatly turned down by the Croatian side.
The 20-times English champions reportedly displayed late interest in Argentine international forward Paulo Dybala, Croatian forward Mario Mandzukic, Spanish forwards Inaki Williams and Fernando Llorente, however, did not make any further additions after securing the services of Harry Maguire.
Having lost Marouane Fellaini and Ander Herrera this year, United were expected to strengthen their midfield ahead of the 2019-20 season, however, failed to add to that area before Thursday’s deadline and they expected to be active during the January transfer window.
Spanish attacker is expected to be on the top of Ole Gunnar Solskjaer’s radar this winter.
