Benfica starlet Joao Felix is being tracked by several Europe’s biggest sides this summer, but he is becoming increasingly tempted by a switch to Atletico Madrid.
Manchester United are interested in signing the youngster, as are Serie A champions Juventus, but it is Atletico Madrid that are stealing a march on their rivals.
AS reports that Joao Felix’s agent, Jorge Mendes, has offered of Atleti to his client ahead of other potential clubs.
The chance of developing as a player under Diego Simeone has been a big selling point to the Portuguese star, which may prove more appealing than the financial pull of other sides.
Joao Felix has a release clause of £105 million at Benfica and it is understood any club wanting his signature will have to meet that this transfer window.
Atletico Madrid will have the funds to do so if Antoine Griezeman departs, as expected for around the same figure, while Lucas Hernandez was sold to Bayern Munich for £72 million.
The 19-year-old has emerged as their number one choice to replace Antonionne Griezeman after netting 20 goals in 43 matches for Benfica this terms across all competitions.
The Portuguese only made his debut for the Benfica first team this campaign, but quickly became a regular in the side and picked up his first cap for his nation in the Nations League semi-finals against Switzerland.
Benfica president Luis Filipe Vieira has said: ‘But it is Joao Felix and his family who will decide if he stays. If someone bids €120m (£105m) it is not worth dreaming that he will stay.’
