Barcelona are hoping to receive nearly £46m from the sale of centre-back Samuel Umtiti in the next transfer window. Ole Gunnar Solskjaer wants to strengthen the back-line during the summer transfer window.
The Catalan giants are keen on parting ways with Samuel this summer, the star’s injury troubles have seen France international fall below compatriot Clement Lenglet in the Blaugrana’s pecking order. Umtiti joined Barcelona from Lyon in 2016 with a €25m deal.
Despite this, Samuel has looked encouraging after battling injuries for the best part of a year, Sport adds that Blaugrana will either use the centre-back in a part-exchange deal to get Neymar or that he’ll be sold. Arsenal are also interested in signing Umtiti.
The French centre-back has played 16 games for the Catalan club this campaign, the centre-back should still be considered as a top defender given his dominance before being struck by injuries. Samuel helped the Les Bleus to win the 2018 World Cup.
Ole Gunnar Solskjaer’s side still look unflattering in a defender, Harry Maguire has endured a mixed start to life since his marquee move and the likes of Eric Bailly and Victor Lindelof haven’t proved themselves as reliable options for different reasons.
