Manchester City stopper Ederson has claimed that fellow Brazil international and the Merseyside Reds number one Alisson Becker is currently the best stopper in the world at the moment.
Both Brazil national team stoppers Alisson and Ederson have been nominated for FIFA’s The Best stopper award alongside with Barcelona keeper Marc Andre Ter Stegen.
The City stopper is behind Alisson when it comes to the number one spot for Brazil, although the Merseyside Reds ace is currently on the sidelines due to a calf injury.
Ederson has said that he sees his international teammate as being “one step ahead” of him and the rest of the stoppers at the moment.
“I think the three of us were the best, but I see Alisson one step ahead. He was great in the Premier League, won the Champions League, the UEFA Super Cup and had a great Copa America as well,” Ederson told reporters.
“So I think whoever wins will be deserving and I’m happy for two Brazilian goalkeepers to reach this level. We all know the great period that Alisson is living. And I’m having a good time too.”
Liverpool stopper has stepped up his recovery from the calf problem that he suffered during the first-game of the 2019-20 Premier League season against Norwich City, although it is still unclear when the 26-year-old stopper will be able to make a return.
