Aston Villa reportedly saw a loan offer to bring Liverpool forward Dominic Solanke at Villa Park rejected this summer, according to the latest reports.

The local, free daily newspaper The London Evening Standard reports that Aston Villa were one of five clubs interested in landing the player during the summer transfer window, but the Reds were interested in keeping hold of him at Anfield.

Steve Bruce was keen to bolster in the final third and add goals to his side and in the end, opted to sign Solanke’s one-time Chelsea team-mate Tammy Abraham on loan.

Solanke was heavily connected with moves away from the Reds, with game time at Anfield unlikely this campaign, however, the Reds appear interested to keep his development ‘in-house’.

The Scottish side Rangers, Premier League outfit Huddersfield, Aston Villa league rivals Middlesbrough and Ligue 1 giants Lyon were in the running for the Englishman.

Solanke remains highly thought of at Reds after joining the club from the league rivals Chelsea but is in desperate need of playing time to realise his talent and break into senior football.
