Liverpool and Chelsea eyeing move for 22-year-old English defender
Chelsea are reportedly planning whether to meet Brighton & Hove Albion’s £40m asking price for Liverpool long-term target Ben White.
Despite having never played a single minute in the Premier League, White has just helped Leeds United to make a promotion back to the English top-tier. While the Yorkshire giants are unlikely to make his move permanent ahead of the next season, the 22-year-old defender is attracting interest from a wide range of clubs.
According to the Daily Star, Chelsea are ready to put themselves at the front of the queue by planning to meet Brighton’s asking price for his services. Having witnessed his team struggled at the back throughout the season, Frank Lampard is eager to sign at least one new centre-back ahead of the 2020/21 campaign.
Although top-flight champions the Merseyside Reds are also believed to be in the running, it appears unlikely that the Merseyside outfit will want to pay a significant fee for a 22-year-old defender who would only be regarded as a backup to Joe Gomez and Virgil van Dijk. Norwich City defensive duo Ben Godfrey and Jamal Lewis have been also linked with a switch to Anfield.
Liverpool weighing up £35m bid for Bournemouth playmaker
Liverpool head-coach Jurgen Klopp is reportedly interested in securing the services of midfielder David Brooks from relegated Bournemouth
Brooks is one of those the Cherries are believed to be looking to cash in on to the several players in order to increase their books following their recent drop into the Championship.
The Wales international has played only nine games in the English top-tier last campaign after sustaining a long-term ankle injury in the summer.
However, Brooks showed what he is capable of in the 2018-19 campaign when directly involved in 12 top-flight goals and the Merseyside Reds may now make an approach for his signature.
The Sun reports that the Merseyside Reds could go as high as £35m with their offer for the 23-year-old playmaker as they look to bring in a right-sided midfielder.
Long-serving midfielder Adam Lallana has already departed from the club this summer and Xherdan Shaqiri is also expected to follow his footsteps in the coming weeks, freeing up space for Brooks’ arrival, while Harry Wilson has been also available for transfer ahead of the next season.
Tottenham Hotspur have also been tipped to make a move for the Manchester City youth product who has been tipped to have a bright future.
Newcastle and Southampton eyeing £20m move for Liverpool forward
Southampton have reportedly joined Newcastle and Leeds in the race to secure services of Liverpool starlet Harry Wilson.
The Echo report that the Merseyside Reds have slapped a £20million price tag on their promising forward and are willing to accept only permanent offers.
Wilson had a cracking campaign with the Cherries as parent team Liverpool marched to a 19th Premier League title, establishing himself as a free-kick specialist at Eddie Howe’s side.
With the coronavirus pandemic affected the financial states of the football team, the Merseyside Reds may be forced to cash in on several players in order to make their own additions.
Jurgen Klopp is after a new left-back that will challenge Andy Robertson for the starting spot at the club, but has had an initial bid for Norwich’s Jamal Lewis rejected.
The Echo also reports Xherdan Shaqiri and Marko Grujic could be moved on this summer should suitable contracts for the pair land on the boss’ desk.
All three named players are on the fringes at Anfield, however, have had relatively impressive seasons over the last couple of years.
Marko Grujic has smashed it in the German top-tier, and Harry Wilson was on fire for Bournemouth and Derby.
