Liverpool are not pursuing a deal to sign Nicolas Pepe from LOSC Lille this summer, according to The Evening Standard.
The Merseyside giants had been linked with a move for the Ivorian in recent months, with some reports even claiming that they were nearing an agreement to recruit the winger for an eye-watering sum of €80 million.
However, these indications have been dismissed, with the publication stating that the Premier League giants are not interested in landing Nicolas Pepe from Lille this summer.
The attacker enjoyed a fine campaign in Ligue 1 and was instrumental for his team, helping them emerge as the surprise packages of Ligue 1 last season as they finished in second place, only behind champions Paris Saint-Germain.
Nicolas Pepe’s form has earned him interest from plenty of clubs from across the continent, but it would appear as though the Reds are not among them.
The Evening Standard suggests that Liverpool board suspect that they have only been touted as potential suitors to drum up interest from elsewhere.
Meanwhile Cengiz Under is another attacker who was linked with a move to Liverpool, but the Turk did not leave the Serie A side year.
The creative Roma attacker would be an astute addition for the Reds as he is young, full of energy and has all the abilities to shine in the Premier League but he will be down to the pecking order under Jurgen Klopp.
It will be very hard to usurp the attacking trio’s reign while the turkey international is tipped for big things
