Borussia Dortmund star Jadon Sancho has signed new terms with the German giant that will see his wages double according to the Mirror.
The long-term deal puts Bundesliga giants in a strong position regarding the future sale of the English winger, which CEO Hans-Joachim Watzke has claimed that they are open to listen to offers for Sancho.
“A chief of one of the super clubs asked me back in spring if there was a chance [to sign Sancho] but I told him straight away he should forget about it and he never contacted me again,” Watzke told Ruhr Nachrichten, via MEN.
“There aren’t many 19-year-olds with such a potential.
“He is also not a player from the region or one who would have any connection to it.
“When you have a player like Jadon Sancho, you must reassess the situation every single year. Everything else would not be honest.
“If a foreign player is not convinced that the club is right for him at the exact time, it just does not make any sense [to keep him].”
Liverpool would absolutely love Sancho at Anfield one day, especially as their direct Premier League rivals Manchester City allowed him to depart from the Etihad Stadium three years ago.
He’s an elite level wing-attacker who could complement and rotate with Jurgen Klopp’s front-three – the kind German manager do not have his team at the moment.
The drop off between Sadio Mane, Roberto Firminho, Mohamed Salah and then Divock Origi, Xherdan Shaqiri and Oxlade-Chamberlain when he plays up top – is vast.
The Citizens have the likes of Gabriel Jesus and Riyad Mahrez on their bench, so if the Reds to compete on four fronts regularly, another world-class forward has to arrive at Anfield in the nearby future.
Maybe next summer is when the Reds will decide to splash money as this season they have only made three addition Adrian, Harvey Eliot and Sepp var der Berg.
