Fanatik claims Liverpool scouts were left empty-handed last night as their monitoring mission for Trabzonspor goalkeeper Ugurcan Cakir didn’t go quite to plan due to Trabzonspor manager Unal Karaman deciding to use Erce Kardesler.
This week the Merseyside Reds have again been linked with the 23-year-old, along with ManUnited and Sevilla.
It was also reported the Reds were sending a scout to Turkey to get a further lowdown on Cakir, but Karaman completely changed his starting squad as he looked to give some youngsters a chance.
TRT Spor’s Trabzonspor reporter Baris Yurduseven has also spoken to Radyo Gol, as covered by Fanatik, and backed up Jurgen Klop’s side interest in the player: “I’m the first person who said Liverpool are interested in Ugurcan Cakir and now I know that RB Leipzig are also seriously interested in him.”
Notwithstanding the interest from other clubs it’s unlikely Trabzonspor will part ways with their first-choice goalkeeper in the winter transfer window, especially after he recently joined an extended contract.
The Trabzon club are in the mix for the Super Lig title and they’ll want to keep their key players at the club beyond the next transfer. Why Liverpool would be interested isn’t defined.
