La Liga giants Barcelona have reportedly ended their pursuit in the signing of Paris Saint-Germain box-to-box midfielder Adrien Rabiot.
Frenchman will depart from the Parc des Princes on a free transfer when his current contract expires at the end of the campaign. However, he is yet to agree on a deal elsewhere despite being rumoured with a host of European teams including Premier League heavyweights, Arsenal, Liverpool and Manchester United.
The Catalan club had been considered the front-runners for his signature and were rumoured with a January move for the 23-year-old star only to be put off by his wage demands and irked at his agent continuing talks with other teams while in advanced negotiations with them.
The Spanish giants have cooled their interest in Rabiot after securing the services of Ajax starlet Frenkie de Jong instead, and The Mirror reports that they have now looked other position to strengthen ahead of the next season.
The news will come as a huge boost for Arsenal and Liverpool who have been keeping tabs on Rabiot since the last season.
Rabiot has not featured for PSG since December 11 having been cut from the team after refusing o sign contract extension with the club.
Unai Emery has identified Rabiot as an ideal replacement for Aaron Ramsey who will leave the club this summer after agreeing on personal terms with Juventus, while Liverpool see him as an upgrade fro Jordan Henderson who has struggled to show his best performance.
