It appears that Jurgen Klopp’s Liverpool are ahead of Premier League rvails Chelsea, Manchester United and Everton in the race to land young Italian talent Nicolò Barella.
According to the Italian sport newspaper Tuttosport, the Estonian defender Ragnar Klavan’s €1.3 million move to Cagliari in summer has meant that a relationship has formed between the Reds and the Sardinians.
Nicolo is a promising creative midfielder, who netted six goals last season and is valued at around €40 million. The fee isn’t official but is believed to be enough to convince the Serie A outfit to sell.
President Tommaso Giulini had previously said that he wouldn’t sell Nicolo, claiming that he was “a work of art.”
This Saturday the young midfielder will get a chance to shine at the Giuseppe Meazza as his side visits Inter Milan.
But Premier League teams have already got moving: Cagliari’s 0-0 draw with Sampdoria in midweek had a host of scouts from EPL sides, including Manchester United, Everton, Chelsea and West Ham United.
A number of Italian clubs including Juventus, Inter Milan and AC Milan like him, as do Napoli.
