Liverpool eyeing shock move for creative English midfielder

The likes of Liverpool and Man United will likely have to cough up as much as £100m to seal the transfer of Leicester City playmaker James Maddison any time soon. England international has been a revelation since moving to the Premier League last summer, settling instantly in the top flight and earning a call-up to the Three Lions squad.

James fine form has also seen him linked as a target for the Merseyside club in a recent report from the Daily Mirror, while Red Devils were also mentioned as admirers of his.

It stays to be seen if Maddison will be on the move any time soon, but if top clubs are to prise him away from the Foxes, Cundy believes it will cost them big money. Cundy said: “I think you’re going to have to pull out £100m to get Maddison, personally.”

Man United knows from signing Harry Maguire this transfer window that Leicester are no pushovers when it comes to letting their star players go, but one imagines it will get difficult and harder for the Foxes to hold on to the 22-year-old playmaker.

English midfielder would no doubt improve this Liverpool squad, coming in potentially as a replacement for Adam Lallana in a creative midfield role, or as a long-term successor to James Milner further forward.

Liverpool arguably doesn’t need him as much as they’re so well stocked in the front-line and don’t play a system to accommodate a number ten like him, so spending £100m, in this case, might be a bit much.
