According to a sport website Calciomercato.com, Jurgen Klopp’s Liverpool have submitted a loan offer to land Philippe Coutinho this summer transfer window.
It is believed that the Red Devils want the Blaugrana star on loan for two years while leaving an option to buy clause at a huge £88 million. The report further states that Coutinho has given his approval for a return to Liverpool following a disastrous spell in Catalonia.
Coutinho initially joined Blaugrana at the start of last year for a club-record sum of £130 million. He was regarded as a second replacement for Neymar following France international Ousmane Dembele’s struggles with injuries.
The South American enjoyed a promising debut season in La Liga as well, netting eight goals and providing six assists in 18 league matches during the remainder of the 2017/18 term.
Barcelona board are prepared to cash in on the Brazilian star, having completed the landing of Antoine Greizmann. They are also plotting a return for Philippe’s compatriot Neymar, which could further lower his chances of becoming a senior -team regular at the club next campaign.
Philippe predominantly featured as a left-winger during his time at Anfield. But, with Sadio Mane and Mohamed Salah already occupying the wide attacking positions, the fans can expect the 27-year-old star to be deployed in the extra midfield slot in Jurgen Klopp’s 4-3-3 formation.
That means Philippe will operate as the number ten, with either of Georginio Wijnaldum or Naby Keita and Jordan Henderson or Fabinho occupying the remaining midfield slots.
