Liverpool have had a €18 million bid for central defender Domagoj Vida rejected by the Turkish giants Besiktas, according to reports in Turkey.
Fanatik state that the Reds plotted the official offer for the Croatia international, but Besiktas rejected it almost straight away as they value him at around €35 million.
The 29-year-old netted an extra-time goal in his country’s World Cup quarter-final clash with Russia and also converted his penalty throughout the shootout as his team advanced to the semi-finals.
Vida only joined Super Lig side in January 2018 and did so on a free transfer. The Turkish club are reportedly happy to let him depart but will only do so if they can secure a massive profit.
Fulham, Everton and West Ham United are also keeping a close eye on the defender, although it looks like highly unlikely that any of those clubs would be willing to pay the reported €35 million asking price.
Liverpool paid £75 million for Virgil van Dijk in January, but there are still doubts about the other defenders in the team, and if this report is to be believed, Domagoj Vida could be the man to help solve the long-standing problem that the Reds have had at centre-back.
