RB Leipzig 20-year-old defender Ibrahima Konate has reportedly emerged as shock transfer target for hosts of teams in England including Liverpool and Arsenal
The French centre-back has established himself as a regular for Bundesliga outfits the first team since them two years ago, playing 43 games in all competitions during the 2018-19 season.
Konate’s incredible for over that period has attracted attention across Europe, and Sport Witness claims that there is particularly strong interest from Premier League club.
Arsenal have previously been rumoured with securing the services of the France Under-21 international, while Liverpool and Tottenham Hotspur are also now believed to be keeping tabs on his signature.
Leipzig have paid just £270,000 for Konate when luring him away from Sochaux back in 2017, however, his value is expected to have skyrocketed over the past two campaigns in the German top-tier.
Konate is also contracted to the Bundesliga outfit until the summer of 2023, meaning that German club have no need to lower their asking price for the starlet.
Liverpool are in need for defensive reinforcements as Jurgen Klopp plans to sign a quality centre-back this summer and pair him with Virgil van Dijk who has won the PFA player of the year award and has been one of the favourites to finish the season by winning the Golden Ball.
Meanwhile, Arsenal are also keen on to strengthen their backline following the poor form of Shkodran Mustafi and Laurent Koscielny and Konate seem to be on Unai Emery’s shortlist.
