Football Insider claims that Leeds United are interested in signing Reece James on loan in winter.
The Whites are now fighting for promotion to the Premier League, and they still lie sixth in the Championship. However, if they are to enter the promised land, some more joins would not go amiss.
As such, they are reportedly scouting the 19-year-old as a potential recruit. James had a fantastic play at Wigan Athletic last season.
He appeared 45 times out of a possible 46 games in the Championship, netted three goals and made three assists. Such were his plays for the Latics, he even picked up the club’s Player of the Year award.
His progress in Lancashire last season has seen him earn a place in Chelsea boss’s plans, and 19-year-old right-back has made his first two starts for Frank Lampard’s side already. The first appeared in the League Cup against Grimsby Town while the second was against Lille in the Champions League.
However, Spain international Cesar Azpilicueta is the captain of the West London club and plays in his position.
Whether English talent has a bright future ahead of him or not, he is incredible to get much playing time as it stands and has done great in both of the matches he featured in this situation, it would be wrong to see him spend too much time on the bench.
He is already well-known in the second tier, which means that Marcelo Bielsa should be pleased to add him to his line-up.
All in all, it would be an agreement that works out for everyone. And then, when James returns next season, he could be primed to take Spaniard’s spot on a long-term perspective.
