Sevilla defender Diego Carlos is reportedly among Liverpool’s transfer targets.
The 26-year-old centre-back joined Los Nervionenses from Nantes last summer and has done pretty well for them this campaign so far. Diego Carlos has featured in 21 games for Sevilla across all competitions, scoring two goals versus Real Valladolid and Real Mallorca.
The Brazilian centre-back who has a release clause of £64 million is among Liverpool’s transfer targets according to Goal.com. This report also claims that the Merseyside Reds’ other transfer targets include Sandro Tonali, Leon Bailey, Joe Gelhardt and Jadon Sancho.
Liverpool currently have the best defensive work in the Premier League, and a big reason behind this is because of the excellent performances of their centre-backs.
However, with Dejan Lovren and Joel Matip injured, the European champions only have Joe Gomez and Virgil van Dijk as their recognisable centre-halves. Both players have done very well lately, but Jurgen Klopp’s side will be in a tough situation if either of them gets injured.
Hence, adding Diego Carlos to their squad would be an excellent transfer from Liverpool. The 26-year-old defender would be a suitable backup option for Jurgen Klopp’s side.
