Liverpool head-coach Jurgen Klopp has revealed that Wilfried Zaha will be like a new signing for their Monday rivals Crystal Palace after putting pen to paper on a new contract.
The Eagles will host the Merseyside Reds at Selhurst Park on Monday night in the first match since Zaha penned the new terms, and the striker could celebrate by becoming the club’s leading Premier League scorer of all time if he founds back of the net of Alisson Becker.
The Eagles also believed in Cheikhou Kouyate, Jordan Ayew and Max Meyer, however, Klopp suggested that Zaha’s new contract could be the best piece of business they have done.
“There were no spectacular signings but if you want you can see Zaha as a spectacular transfer,” he told reporters.
“I think they are pretty happy that Wilfried signed a new contract. He’s very important and last year was probably the best example of that.”
Zaha’s brace against Fulham on the opening weekend took him to 23 in the Premier League, level with Chris Armstrong’s club tally.
