Liverpool head-coach, Jurgen Klopp will turn to German youngster Max Meyer if he misses out the signing of Lorenzo Insigne.
Both players have been identified as a replacement for wantaway Liverpool star Philippe Coutinho who is believed to be on his way to Barcelona.
Coutinho wants to leave Anfield and Barcelona could launch their third bid in order to lure Brazilian attacker at Nou Camp.
Napoli’s star Insigne is believed to be the Merseyside Reds No.1 choice. However, if they fail to sign him, Klopp has identified German starlet Max Mayer as an Alternative.
Insigne has scored 20 goals for Serie A giants last season and believed to be one of the favourite players of Jurgen Klopp.
However, German manager will turn to Meyer if the Italian doesn’t fancy a switch from Napoli to Liverpool.
The 21-year-old has one year left on his current deal with Schalke according to The People and refusing to sign a new deal.
And they add he’s open to moving to Liverpool and taking up the opportunity to work with Klopp.
Bayern Munich believed to also keeping tabs on Max Mayer’s situation at Schalke and ready to rival Liverpool in the race for his signature.
It is believed that Liverpool’s Premier League rivals Tottenham Hotspur are also in the hunt for German u-21 midfielders signature.
