Manchester United boss is reportedly renewed interest in Real Madrid centre-back Raphael Varane and determined to bring the France star at Old Trafford in January
That’s according to Spanish media outlet Marca (via ManchesterEveningNews), who reiterate on Thursday that the Portuguese tactician ‘would like to take’ his former player to United, and judged upon the Dortmund performance that would be no surprise.
However, also judged upon the Dortmund performance, the Red Devils’ chances would appear very slim.
The 23-year-old, who is rated at around £50m by the Royal Club, has previously revealed United interest in securing his services.
“Of course it’s flattering. Manchester United are a very big club. But from the moment when Madrid and I are in sync on my project, there’s no questions to ask yourself,” the France international has told Canal+.
“I have always said I feel good in Madrid. It’s not easy to say ‘No’ to Jose Mourinho, but you have to weigh up the pros and the cons. We’re men, we have decisions to make and that’s how it is.”
Varane, who is contracted to Real Madrid until 2020, has developed into a world-class defender since moving to Madrid from Lens in 2011 bearing the tag of being one of the game’s most promising youngsters.
