Arsenal are set to have Alex Iwobi available for the Newcastle United clash after the international break.
The Gunners forward has been struggling for fitness in recent weeks and was even forced to withdraw from the Nigeria squad during the international break.
Nigerian forward has been in and out of the Gunners team since Unai Emery’s arrival at the Norht London club, however, made starts against their London rivals Chelsea and West Ham, as he helped his side secure their first three points of the 2018/19 season in the fixture against the Pellegrini’s side.
However, the versatile attacking player was forced to sit on the sidelines for the Gunners dramatic away win at Cardiff City last weekend, with illness keeping him out of the game.
Nevertheless, Iwobi appears to be closing in on a return to fitness and his father Chuka has delivered a positive injury update and expects his son to be ready to face Rafa Benitez’s side.
“It was sad for Alex that he wasn’t in the squad for the Arsenal match versus Cardiff and had to withdraw from the national team for the match versus Seychelles. He loves playing for Nigeria and was extremely disappointed.
“He is on the road to recovery and should be back before the game against Newcastle (on 15th September”
