Porton defender Rafa Soares admits he is flattered with and interest from Liverpool.
Jurgen Klopp is keen on to strengthen defensive options after having to rely on James Milner at left-back last season, while Alberto Moreno has failed to impress German manager.
Former Dortmund manager will need an improved squad next term following their return to the Champions League football, and 22-year-old Porto left-back Rafa Soares has been linked with a switch to Anfield.
Soares is yet to make an appearance for Porto. However, he enjoyed a stunning spell on loan at Rio Ave last season.
The 22-year-old defender has confirmed interest from England and discussed potential interest from the Merseyside Reds – the club he is supporting since his childhood.
Soares said: “I know I’ve been followed by English clubs, especially after our campaign.
“Liverpool are a great club and to be linked is an enormous honour for me.
“I followed Liverpool from a young age, and I shiver every time I listen to ‘You’ll Never Walk Alone,’ it’s unique.
“Liverpool are famous and popular in Portugal where people value the history of a club.
“I’m naturally flattered, but I’m a Porto player and focused on succeeding here.
Rafa joined FC Porto’s back in 2005. From local F.C. Alpendorada and now he could found himself in one of the best leagues in the world.
Liverpool is meanwhile also keeping tabs on Soare’s teammate Ruben Neves who has been valued at £40m.
