Chelsea Head coach Maurizio Sarri has revealed that they have already exercised an option to keep Olivier Giroud at Stamford Bridge for one more year.
Frenchman has officially less than three months left on his current deal, and there have been suggestions that the world-cup winning forward would prefer to find first-team football elsewhere.
However, Italian head-coach has said that the West London club have made the decision to extend the World Cup winner’s current deal for another year.
The Italian told Sky Sports News: “He is sure, because the club has an option for another year, another season.
“I spoke to the club two days ago and we agreed to exercise the option, So he will remain.”
Giroud has managed to found back of the net 10 tunes and three assists in 11 Europa League games, however, just seven starts have come in the English top-tier.
Meanwhile, Alvaro Morata is reportedly against making a return to Stamford Bridge after his loan move to Atletico Madrid during the January transfer window, while on loan forward Gonzalo Higuain is likely to make a return to Juventus after the season ends as he has failed to impress at Stamford Bridge.
Since Higuain’s move at Chelsea, this summer e has managed to found back of the net 3 times in the 10 Premier League games and Maurizio Sarri has been disappointed with the performance of former Napoli star.
