Former Liverpool midfielder Xabi Alonso believes that the Red’s signing Naby Keita will be a big success for Jurgen Klopp’s side.
The 23-year-old midfielder was officially unveiled at Melwood training ground last week after his final campaign at RB Leipzig.
Jurgen Klopp’s side reached an agreement with Leipzig last summer, however, Guinea international midfielder has spent the 2017-18 campaign in Bundesliga before concluding his £48m switch to Anfield.
Keita will be tasked with improving Jurgen Klopp’s options for the next season and the Reds seem to have high hope on him after handing the African midfielder an iconic No.8 jersey.
Former Liverpool star Alonso played against Keita during the 2016-17 season at Bayern Munch before the Spaniard announced his retirement from football.
And Alonso delivered a verdict on Keita following the versatile midfielder’s transfer to Liverpool.
“He’s a big personality. He has the hunger, the will to compete, and after in football terms he’s an all-round midfielder,” Alonso told the Liverpool FC’s website.
“[He’s] Good with the ball, he runs and dribbles very quickly with the ball, but he also likes to make things tick in the midfield.
“I think for this position in front of the holding midfielder, or even as a holding midfielder [or] close to the front three, he can have that role to find the space and to be up there. So [he’s a] good signing.”
