Galatasaray are reportedly exploring a loan deal for Chelsea star Tiemoue Bakayoko, but are relying on the club agreeing to pay a significant proportion of his £120,000 per week wages.
Goal has learned that the Turkish side are unable to pay €35 million (£32 million) pricetag Chelsea are keen to make the transfer permanent, which may deter the club as they look to cash-in on the £40 million signing from Monaco.
New head coach Frank Lampard has taken pre-season to consider whether to retain the services of Bakayoko, but after 188 minutes of action, he’s ready to offload the Frenchman.
Tiemoue is facing a season on the sidelines should the star fail to secure a move away from Chelsea, with Roman Abramovich’s club having too many foreign players within their current roster for them all to earn a place within their EPL and UCL rosters such are the homegrown rules for competitions.
Paris Saint-Germain registered an interest in bringing Tiemoue back to his home city but opted instead to land Idrissa Gana Gueye from Everton.
The Turkish transfer market closes on September 2, which means there’s plenty of time for Tiemoue to negotiate his exit should the defensive midfielder wish to head to Istanbul.
A further senior player who could depart the club before the closure of the window is England international Danny Drinkwater.
The midfielder is yet to receive any concrete proposals from elsewhere but could be sold in the coming days. The star joined Chelsea in the same summer as Bakayoko for £35 million from Leicester.
