Manchester United talent Tahith Chong is in talks with the club over a new deal, following a message of support from head coach OIe Gunnar Solskjaer.
The 19-year-old attacker is highly rated by the Red Devils’ top brass and has been in and around the roster in 2019, making a notable appearance in his side’s thrilling Champions League win over Paris Saint-Germain.
Tahith is seen as having the potential to be a future star at the club, leaving United interested in securing a long term deal for the youngster.
His development has accelerated at a rapid pace since winning the award of the Jimmy Murphy Young Player of the Year last year.
He made his competitive debut for the Old Trafford outfit in a 2-0 FA Cup win over Reading and made his PL debut in March of 2018 in United’s 3-2 win against Southampton.
However, it is believed that the Dutch ace would like to see more playing time, having made just four matches to date.
A return to his homeland has been mooted, with Mark van Bommel’s PSV Eindhoven and the former club Feyenoord expressing an interest.
Tahith has said his long-term future remains in Manchester, though. He told Voetbal Primeur of any contract talks:
‘Of course we are talking, but it’s still too early to say anything about it. The season is still long and we will see what happens. There are a lot of competitions coming up and I will focus on that.’
