The Bilbao forward Iker Muniain has been tipped to make the switch to Anfield in the near future.

The midfielder came through the youth ranks at Bilbao before making his senior debut back in 2009 aged just 16.

He has since racked up 365 appearances for the Spanish side and is legend-in-making for Basque club.

The attacker’s contract was due to expire at the end of the season, but after months of negotiations, he agreed to an extension which runs until the summer of 2024.

The Spaniard was understood to be attracting interest from Italy and Liverpool were thought to have made an offer, but despite signing a new deal, Iker Muniain could still be set for departure shortly.

And the 26-year-old does not have a release clause: “Athletic and the player have agreed to eliminate the possibility of the contract ending with the payment of a release clause,” the club stated in their announcement.

According to Football Whispers, Iker Muniain is keen to leave Spain and would be a financial fit for Liverpool.

The prolific attacker is valued at £12 million, and his versatility would prove useful to Jurgen Klopp as he can play on both flanks or operate as a No 10.
