Liverpool have reportedly beaten a host of Europe’s teams to the signing of Ajax starlet Ki-Jana Hoever including their Premier League rivals Manchester City, Man Utd and Chelsea.
The 16-year-old full-back was believed to be on the radar of a number of clubs across Europe following his impressive displays.
However, the Liverpool Echo claimed that the Merseyside Reds have now won the race for Hoever’s services, with the youngster having been training with the Reds Under-18 side.
Liverpool boss Jurgen Klopp’s willingness to hand youth players first-team opportunities is believed to have been a major factor in Hoever’s decision to snub Chelsea and Manchester United.
The teenager did not sign a professional contract with Dutch giants Ajax and so is available for a nominal compensation fee, although he won’t be able to make his debut for the Merseyside Reds until he is granted international clearance.
Meanwhile, Chelsea and Liverpool have been heavily linked with a move for another Ajax wonderkid Matthijs de Ligt who has been strongly tipped to depart from Dutch giants during the January transfer window.
