Arsenal striker Alex Iwobi has reportedly edged closer to signing a new deal at the Emirates Stadium.
The 22-year-old forward came through the ranks at the Gunners and has made 98 senior appearances for the North London club in all competitions.
Recent reports from Italy suggested that new head-coach Unai Emery was preparing to make Iwobi available for transfer amid interest from AC Milan and Lazio.
According to The Mirror, however, Iwobi is very close in the Spaniard’s plans and is being offered a new contract by the Gunners hierarchy which runs until 2022.
Iwobi’s current deal signed in 2015, expires in two years’ time.
Meanwhile, Liverpool and Arsenal have made enquiries with the representatives of Brazilian midfielder Bernard who has been a free agent.
The ex-Shakhtar Donetsk midfielder is now without a team after his five-year deal in Ukraine expired.
The 25-year-old midfielder is weighing up his options as he wants the new challenge.
And a number of teams across Europe have been sounded out over potential move.
West Ham and Chinese Super League teams have also expressed interest in Brazilian star.
However, the most high-profile approaches appear to have come from English top-tier big boys Liverpool and Arsenal.
