The representatives of Arsenal playmaker Mesut Ozil have allegedly agreed to hold talks with MLS club DC United over potential move before the end of the transfer window in the USA.
While German playmaker has stressed that he is happy in London, the former Real Madrid star is no longer considered to be the first choice in the starting XI for Unai Emery’s side at the Emirates Stadium.
The Gunners board are keen to get Ozil, who has two years left on his current deal, off the wage bill as soon as possible in a bid to their efforts to strengthen elsewhere.
According to The Express, the North London club chiefs may get their wish with the player’s representatives due to meet with officials from DC United this month.
The MLS club are searching for a replacement for their key man Wayne Rooney after England’s record goalscorer decided to play for championship club Derby County from the start of 2020 season.
However, the report adds that German midfielder would need to take a significant pay-cut to move to the Washington-based side as he currently earns £300,000 per week.
