Former Man United goalkeeper Peter Schmeichel has revealed that his club had an excellent chance to sign Real Madrid star Toni Kroos as a replacement for Michael Carrick.
Some of the Reds fans are believed that former German playmaker Bastian Schweinsteiger would improve Reds midfield options on Twitter, Schmeichel responded with the following tweet:
He’s a top class player, and I’d like to see him involved again, but he’s not a better player than Carrick https://t.co/6LAB55bNW2

Carrick has been in fine form during his time under Louis Van Gaal and has earned a new deal after the Jose Mourinho’s arrival, however, Reds need a better midfielder to compete for the title and Kroos would perfectly fit Jose Mourinho 4-2-3-1 formation.
The veteran midfielder had featured in just one Premier League game prior to Sunday’s clash at Swansea City, as Mourinho has struggled to find his best combination in the middle of the theater of the Stadium.
