Liverpool have revealed that their new signing Naby Keita will miss the several games in the pre-season tour in USA due to a neck injury.
Guinea international midfielder has featured heavily for the Merseyside Reds during their pre-season campaign so far, however, he sat out this morning’s 2-1 victory over Man City.
The club have now revealed that the Guinea midfielder will not take part in training sessions following the neck injury, but hinted that he could be fit in time to feature in their final International Champions Cup game against their direct rivals Man Utd.
“Naby Keita is set to sit out training for the next couple of days as a precautionary measure as he recovers from a sore neck,” read a statement on Liverpool’s official website.
“Keita will be afforded time to recover by not taking part in the immediate sessions, although he has not been ruled out of the fixture with Manchester United in Michigan at this stage.”
The Merseyside Reds first competitive game of the 2018-19 campaign comes at home to West Ham United on 12 August.
