Arsenal head-coach Unai Emery has confirmed that highly-rated defender Konstantinos-Mavropanos has returned to the club and started training after a five-month lay-off.

The 21-year old defender has emerged onto the first-team scene last campaign, having joined the North London club from PAS Giannina last January.

The Greece youth international has only made three appearances for the Gunners, in which he impressed, before a groin injury prevented him from making further more appearances for the North London club.

However Emery has revealed that Greek defender is now making good progress and will return to the first-team squad in the nearby future.

Speaking ahead the Gunners FA Cup tie with Blackpool this weekend, Emery said:

“This morning Dinos Mavropanos started to train after I think five months. That’s good news.”

Meanwhile, Arsenal have reportedly moved to the verge of signing Spanish midfielder Denis Suarez from La Liga giants Barcelona.

There have been reports that the Norht London club are short of funds for the January transfer window, with loan agreements more likely than permanent signings.

However, according to Italian journalist Gianluca Di Marzio, the Gunners are close to bringing in the Spaniard after the 24-year-old dropped down the pecking order at Spanish giants.

Suarez has played 46 games in La Liga since moving to the Catalan club back in 2016, however, the Spaniard has featured for just 41 minutes in La Liga and the Champions League during the current season
