AS Roma striker Edin Dzeko has stressed that he is “happy” at Stadio Olimpico and is ready to draw a line under the ‘flattering’ recent interest from Chelsea.
The 31-year-old forward was rumoured to be defending Premier League champions’ top forward target during the January transfer window, only for a move to collapse late in the window and the Blues ended up by luring Olivier Giroud from their direct Premier League rivals Arsenal.
Roma sporting director Monchi revealed earlier last month that his club were ready to offload Dzeko if the Blues have met their asking price.
“I am happy in Rome, with life in Rome and I don’t like to look back at media rumours,” he told SportsCenter. “They are sometimes true, sometimes just pumping for clicks.
“There was an offer, negotiations and I was really pleased that Chelsea wanted me. That is all I want to say about that, while I am enjoying [myself] in Rome.”
Bosnia-Herzegovina international forward has found the back of the net for more than 50 goals during his three years spell at AS Roma.
